The following article has been written by one of our Trust members.  They are the opinions of that person and not necessarily those of Blues Trust.  Would you like to contribute a discussion point of your own about Birmingham City Football Club?  If so, we would be delighted to hear from you.

After another gloriously satisfying three points at the weekend against Shrewsbury Town, my sense of the feeling from supporters exiting our St. Andrew’s was akin to walking on air. Fanciful probably, but the sheer joy of seeing a performance so complete and stylish left big smiles all round. And a large helping of pride for long-suffering members of the Blues family.

Compared to the disappointment of relegation last season this transformation, under the impressive leadership of Chris Davies and his staff, has brought respectability on a massive scale. Our beloved old club now sees a new us enjoying times almost impossible to imagine during the recent gloomy years.

Who knows how things might have panned out if we had remained in the Championship for another season? But, in my view, relegation has brought some genuine blessings in disguise which were absolutely necessary to turn things around.

Waiting for a club transformation such as this, and under new owners, has been tough since the Carling Cup days of 2011. But, as of now, we are in a different place with quality times being experienced at all levels. And that includes, in my case, the uplifting experience of occasionally passing by and stopping to see our picturesque training facilities at Henley in Arden.

What could be better for Blues supporters than the genuine optimism and excitement currently being felt for almost everything connected to the club? As our near 150 year anniversary approaches, the possibility of promotion with a record points total and perhaps some additional silverware courtesy of a Wembley visit dangle before us. Nothing achieved yet of course. And we all know how football can be a cruel companion. But on field success will complete the turnaround worked so hard for by the players.

Forgetting the past is not always good as we have had a few highs since 2011. But walking down Kingston Hill after the almost perfect performance on Saturday reinforced my belief that this wonderful old club has a new us witnessing better times.

Its so good to read one of your posts again Mitchell. Thank you.
We certainly needed the reset.strange how of fears have changed so quickly in that will we win the cup? Or league? Rather than the usual ones of Will we survive? A great write up thanks again.

Agree with Linda. Good to hear from you again Mitchell. It was a comprehensive victory on Saturday without doubt. Ok, the opposition was very poor but Blues overwhelmed them from start to finish apart from a momentary lapse for their goal right at the death.

It ain’t done till it’s done of course, but I wonder which players will still be with us next season in the Championship? I hope Marc Leonard is. I thought he had another excellent game on Saturday. A class act.

Everything about the club is looking rosy at the moment , even the players look as though they “ get it “ and how do you even find the words to describe Chris Davies ? I hope when we do hit a bump in the road we remain patient and supportive of the manager , i think we might have the same scenario as Ferguson and Man utd ! We could not have dreamed of getting owners like these and as a 70 year old it has finally happened to my club , let’s enjoy the ride !
